What do our volunteers do? What is the time commitment?

School tour volunteers learn one or two tour sites given to third graders each year. Tours take place in the spring and fall, generally in the morning, and each tour site is between 15 and 30 minutes. Training and scheduling is done with the Education Coordinator. Being able to give one or two tours per season is helpful to us!

In-school programs include visiting elementary schools with another trained volunteer or staff member to teach a history themed unit.

Community outreach opportunities range from sitting at our Americana booth table or helping with registration at an event.

Gardening and watering volunteers do just that - garden and or water plants at one of our museums. This can be done outside of museum hours and is often shared with a group of fellow volunteers.

Baking is needed for our monthly speaker series and the Uptown Holiday Walk. One batch of cookies here or there is greatly appreciated!

Archival and Office support is needed from time to time. No regular schedule is set at present but being available during museum hours is helpful.

Teen (Student) Volunteers meet once a month at the Asahel Wright Museum. They also assist at various special events during the year.

EVENTS - help during our various events can include set-up or clean-up, registration or info tables, museum tours, etc. Usually events are broken up into shifts of approximately 2 hours.
